Good luck with that. My guess is that they were smoking it when they came up with this idea.

Industrial hemp has low THC levels as article states. Not much of a buzz in that car fire.

56MPH isn't all that fast. 25 mile range at that speed isn't very far. The 100 mile range is likely at 10MPH or so, thus we are talking about a suburban commuter here. The real question is the cost.

The whole idea is to make us notice the car. You and I both know it is not something to smoke, just something to drive and it is an interesting twist of usage in that hemp is strong and light. However you would be totally nuts to think you could "smoke" this car. You would be a bit nuts to smoke hemp as well as it is merely a plant cousin of the common weed, Marijuana.

Hemp is not cannabis and cannabis can be used for hemp. Sort of like saying eggs are not chickens but chickens can come from eggs or maybe that wasn't quite what I wanted. There is a difference. Of course we allow the import of processed hemp or we would be without a whole lot of rope we would have to develop some other way and rope is oftentimes better than steel cables or such.

You need a strong light material to make the car lighter for electric motors. You can not get high if it is combined with other material & painted. I don't think.

From the article - "Industrial hemp is bred to produce very little THC, the active compound in marijuana." (Chet Brokaw/Associated Press)

If you buy a vehicle like that then you have been using too much of the funny green stuff. 90 kilometres per hour is about 60 mph. 40 to 160 kilometres is about 25 to 53 miles. Wow! Like P.T. Barnum said, " there is a sucker born every minute and a con man is there to take them".

Ford and Diesel also thought they could produce there own fuels IE ethanol and bio-diesel, until convinced by Big Oil they could provide oil cheaper and all engines were converted. Alas if we could only go back. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket.

From Purdue Univeristy's website.
"Henry Ford recognized the utility of hemp in early times. In advance of today’s automobile manufacturers, he constructed a car with certain components made of resin stiffened with hemp fiber (Fig. 19). Rather ironically in view of today’s parallel situation, Henry Ford’s hemp innovations in the 1920s occurred at a time of crisis for American farms, later to intensify with the depression. The need to produce new industrial markets for farm products led to a broad movement for scientific research in agriculture that came to be labeled “Farm Chemurgy,” that today is embodied in chemical applications of crop constituents"

So, we need to legalize it in this country and start putting people to work growing it to take the place of steel in vehicles.

I am beginning to remember the East German / Soviet cars (that's what they called 'em - honest) that came across checkpoint charlie in Berlin after the wall came down. The panels were made of some sort of particle board or plywood and they gave off a lot of smoke. I wonder.

A back woods scientist turns, ordinary, everyday marijuana into gas. An NASA scientist has broken marijuana down into it individual components, and found another use for the drug. Would you believe that after all these years the weed known as marijuana can be use as a high octane, clean burning fuel? By extracting the juice from the marijuana plant and processing it through a simple process, this scientist has found that you can get half a gallon of fuel, from every couple of pounds for gas for your vehicle. This fast growing, easy harvest weed can replace about 50 to 75 percent of our oil requirements without putting a strain on our food supply. This NASA scientist stated that it is commonly known in the scientific world that marijuana makes a better burning, and higher grade fuel then corn. This is also known in the circles of our Government.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the early 1900s, Henry Ford and other futuristic, organic, engineering geniuses recognized (as their intellectual, scientific heirs still do today) an important point - that up to 90 percent of all fossil fuel used in the world today (coal, oil, natural gas, etc.) should long ago have been replaced with biomass such as: cornstalks, cannabis, waste paper and the like.
Cannabis Fuel Imagine that.
