let the dirty frackers dump their waste water in your kitchen sink.i hope you get your well polluted by fracking so you can hook up your water pipes to your furnace this winter.although i don't know what you'll do for water.

My former post on this article has disappeared (censorship, anyone?) My take on this is that there is an urban/rural divide on this issue. Policy makers have banned fracking in New York based on environmental scare tactics which are not borne out by scientific evidence, to the detriment of people in rural areas of NY who are in deep financial trouble, while a few miles away across the state line, gas development has been the solution to the crisis in Pennsylvania. The radical environmental position, however, seems to get a lot of traction in non-rural areas, which, in New York, are home to a huge majority of the population. A good look at the junk science behind the anti-fracking zealots can be found at http://www.aednet.org/aednews/index_full_story.cfm?id=10928637

Maybe public opinion would change if we could get the real facts about fracking instead of biased bits and pieces to promote either sides agenda. The public is generally going to be against something they don't fully understand.

Too many unknowns for people to figure it out, uncertainty breeds fear, and fear defeats logic.

maxcap59 - said "Don't know that I believe these two polls anyway. Too many variables. Besides, I'm old enough to form my own opinions without some liberal pollster trying to steer me. The difference is I usually try to use facts to formulate an opinion, not political rhetoric and idealism." The only thing I can add to this I am almost to old to form any opinion. Kind of like every day is Saturday then the weekend comes.

Both sides are probably stretching things... though it's obvious fracking is terrible for the environment.

There are two quotes that I think of with this situation:
Donald Gannon - 'Where facts are few, experts are many.'
and one attributed to Albert Einstein - 'If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts.'

More research needs to be done to on the topic of fracking. With more research people's minds will change.

Some people cannot be confused with facts. They already have an unfounded opinion based on fear.

Kind of makes you wonder if the glass is half full or half empty. History books will have plenty written about the issue in the future. So until then just keep on drilling.
