Gas prices make a welcome drop
Sunday, October 12, 2008
The Daily Journal -- Three weeks ago a gallon of regular gasoline was priced right at $4 in Kankakee and neighboring communities. On Saturday, regular was at $3.11 here, low enough to produce a smile or two among buyers at local stations. But it's not enough to fuel confidence that the price might keep declining, even though the price of a barrel of crude oil is lower than it has been in 13 months. "I'm very impressed with the price of gas," said Roderick Price, of Kankakee, filling up on $3.11 regular at the Citgo at Indiana Avenue and River Street. However, he was not confident the lower price will last long. "Before it gets cold, the price of gas will increase again," Roderick said. "I want to take advantage of the low gas prices while I still can." Across River Street at the Phillips 66, Katrina Singleton, of Kankakee, said, "These prices are fine, but they are still too high for my liking. ... I remember before the war gas was under $2. I doubt we will ever see those days again."

If you vote in Obama, the price of gas will be over $4.00 a gallon within 6 months of him being in office..Please vote for McCain to keep gas prices down..Palin wants to drill in alaska to keep gas prices below $2.00 a gallon..Imagine the amount of money we could all save every week when it takes us close to $50.00 to fill our tank when we could only be spending around $20.00!!!

its a welcome drop now, but dont be fooled into thinking its good times again. we're so thankful not to be paying $4/gal anymore that we're happy with $3? be happy when its back to pre-katrina levels when all the oil companies saw that as a great excuses to raise profits by doing nothing. record gas prices while theyre all congratulating themselves for record profits.

To Kthyme & mpkato, Palin is a winner alright. If she abused power as Gov. in just a year and a half what do you expect as VP. for 4 yrs. She did what the two clowns in the White House have been doing for 8 yrs. the idea she can do what she wants and she has proven it. If you want more of the same, vote for Palin. Laws and rules are not for her.

I nearly fell over last night. My daughter got gas for $3.06 at one of uour stations! I don't think this drop will last, but we are enjoying it just the same.

We are not likely to see $2/gallon gasoline prices again... and we are likely to see $4 or $5, or even $6 or $7...

We need to get away from oil based transportation and focus on finding alternatives... don't let the Middle East buy up the USA!

Retowered... your posts don't help except for your point totals. Please add something constructive.

That $11.5 billion should keep them running for about 2-3 yrs. Now's the time to invest in upgrades for refineries, and not suffer another IKE.

Remember the "drill here, drill now" bit? Democrats got worried. They thought that their refusal to exploit our own domestic oil reserves might cost them votes, so they rushed through a bill to open up some of our offshore sites and other federal lands to drilling. Now Pelosi's dog-washer Steny Hoyer is saying that as soon as Obama is elected they're going to re-institute the drilling ban.

Here in the Atlanta metro area I can tell our weekend traffic was much heavier than it has been in previous weeks. Our prices have come down from the $4 range to closer to $3 and all or most of all gas stations have all grades.

That's about 80 cents a liter, we're still paying $1.10 here a liter here.

There is room to go lower. And, that reduces the money for Iran and OPEC to support terrorists!

just like the Limbo, "how low can you go" keep up the pressure of conserving. supply and demand really works when the demand is down. stick it to OPEC and do not buy from companies that get their oil from them. it is easy to find the source of oil if you do a little searching.
